I think you should look into doing something else with the feature spot... at least alternate between a featured artist and a featured post maybe?.. one month one thing and the next month something else... I feel like the feature at the moment is losing some of its appeal... also has a touch of "rewarding very active members" over "very talented members" thats not a knock on anyone.. just feel like given enough uploads/activity/time you will become a featured "designer"

featured posts could be blog spots from other design sites for instance...

Just a thought...

nido, you bring up a good point.

From what I've observed, there are two aspects of logopond - the gallery (good for inspiration for designers and research for clients looking for designers) and the other is the forum.  The forum is primarily for designers.  While there is a marketplace section, it's not linked from the homepage of logopond.

All that being said, I don't know if a monthly "featured post" on the home page would benefit the majority of the site visitors.

What I would like to see is at least a small section on the home page, above the fold, that would highlight the marketplace section of the forum and MAYBE feature posts.  The only problem with "feature posts" is that the majority of posts in the forum are critiques.  It's not like the forum has tutorials or anything like that.

But by highlighting the marketplace, that could push people away from contacting gallery designers directly and instead thinking they have to post to the marketplace.

There are two distinct parts of logopond and I'm not sure if/how they could be combined.

Im just saying I think its lost its prestige a little...

I have this impression that the forum gets any real traffic only in General Discussion and Feedback areas. Other sections have may be 2, 3 or 4 people participating in any given month and they also do not stay for long.

"rewarding very active members" over "very talented members"

Actually that is precisely what that area is for, rewarding fairly active and very talented members. You are right epsilon because of the way the main part of the site is set up, most of the conversations go on, on the main area so much of the traffic received here is general and marketplace, I leave the other areas in hopes to push more people into convos but it might be time to just let the forum be what it is, a place for random convos and ideas and a marketplace and let that be the reason.

I need to talk it over with my partner because hes running illypads and part of the reason for doing this was to join the forums for cross visitor ship, but i don't think that's working very much because of the ability to comment on the either main portion of the site, so what ends up happening is people go to either main site do what they need to do and then visit the forum and then go back to the main area that they just left from, pondpad.com will eventually have more content which will help bridge the two sites.
